Why We Started Actaer

Actaer is a software product company from Novi Pazar, Serbia, founded in 2025. We build the tools we wished existed — and we help companies put AI to work. This is the short version of why.

The problem we couldn't unsee

Somewhere along the way, software stopped being on your side.

You know the pattern. The BI platform that needs a full-time babysitter before it shows you a single trustworthy number. The PDF editor that won't let you sign a contract until you upload it to someone else's cloud and start a subscription. The consultants who study your business for three months, hand you a deck, and leave before anything runs.

We spent years inside that pattern — as engineers, as users, as the people called in to clean up afterwards. At some point the frustration turned into a question we couldn't put down: what would these tools look like if someone built them to serve the person using them?

So we built our own

We started with the two problems that annoyed us most.

The first was business intelligence. Most companies have plenty of data and very few answers. Dashboards drift, numbers disagree, and nobody can say where a chart came from. VantumIQP is our answer: a governed BI workspace built on Apache Superset. Ask a question, explore it in SQL, and publish a dashboard your whole company can trust — every chart traceable to its query, with access control your auditors will actually like. It's for teams that need reporting both executives and regulators believe.

The second was documents. Signing or fixing a PDF should not require an account, a subscription, and a trip through a stranger's server. FaberPDF is a local-first PDF editor for Windows and Linux. Sign, annotate, edit text, and validate documents right on your desktop — your files never leave your machine. It's free during beta, and it's for anyone whose documents are their business: legal teams, accountants, operations, you.

And we consult — differently

We still consult. But we do it the way we'd want to be consulted.

AI Consulting is our flagship service. We find where AI actually pays off in your business, build the automation, and train your people to own it. You don't get a strategy deck. You get working systems and a team that knows how to keep them working.

Building products is what keeps us honest. We live with our own architecture decisions, support our own users, and fix our own bugs. That discipline follows us onto your project — because we can't recommend practices on Monday that we'd never accept in our own codebase on Tuesday.
